The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS (2024) covers both the welfare and the learning and development of young children from Birth until the end of their first year in school.

The Framework is underpinned by the sound principle of learning through play, a philosophy to which we are absolutely committed.

We have created our own Curriculum at the Woodlands Nursery Group, which weaves five threads throughout every experience, opportunity and activity offered in our settings.  This unique CHILD-based curriculum places each Child at the heart of everything we do.

Our families learn all about our CHILD-based curriculum in their Welcome Meeting, and this is further explored throughout their child’s time with us, ensuring we support all our children to Start Ahead and Stay Ahead when they fly off to ‘big school’, and enabling them to achieve their Early Learning Goals at the end of Reception.

We liaise closely with parents, and take note of children’s interests, progress and development. We aim to minimise time spent on paperwork, in order to maximise our time with the children.

OUR FIVE THREADS:

Conscious – Happy – Innovative – Limitless – Diverse

Our hope and aspiration is to ensure that all our TEAM live out these five values as well, providing them with the best support and continued professional development that we can – if they are living out these values, they will embed and enshrine these into our children too!
